We pulled in to the Olympic National park area from the Victoria BC ferry. The kids made fast friends at the campground and were having a great time as soon as we pulled in.
The following day before work I ran in to the woods and found the Elwha river. It was so amazing to suddenly be overlooking this amazing gorge. I kept Ginger on the leash around all of the slippery rocks and steep edges.
Lara and the kids went up to Hurricane Ridge to take the Junior Ranger test and get their badges. They learned a ton and were so proud to get their first badge. Seeing their excitement was a confirmation of why we set off on this journey.
In order to make it south we have had to move a lot this week. Each night we have traveled around 100 miles to a new campground. Moving daily has been a pain and has got us off our normal schedules. The kids are slow to start their days and then stay up too late at night.
Each of these coastal campgrounds have been amazing. La Push is an amazing beach and was fun to watch the surfers all day from my desk.
On the way to Pacific Beach we stopped by the Hoh Rainforest and hiked around. It was a huge treat to be in the silence of the forest and all around such beautiful trees. We would hike in to these cool patches of air that settled around the bases of the trees. Such a cool spot!
The Pacific Beach campground is also one of our favorites. Photographing around the jetty at sunset is amazing. This beach also has some of the coolest grooves in the sand.
Our remote work spot for the day was in Seabrook just outside of the café. What a cute little town! I had the baked Maple Bar which was amazing.
Next stop Nehalem. Looking forward to being stationary and relaxing for the next few days!
